Fruto da recente pesquisa “O Espaço contra o crime – mapeamento de crimes urbanos e diretrizes de perfis espaciais para cidades mais seguras”. Primeiramente focalizado no bairro de Boa Viagem, os resultados obtidos mostram a presença de diferentes padrões espaciais de crimes segundo período do dia. Os roubos e furtos têm um comportamento bem dinâmico, pois parecem acompanhar o movimento das pessoas, mudando de lugar e de natureza dependendo da hora/ dia da semana.
A proposta de estudar a dinâmica da cidade à noite surge após constatações sobre a localização de hotspots de crimes segundo diferentes horas do dia que ajudaram a perceber a natureza cambiante de muitos segmentos urbanos. As atividades noturnas surgem em centralidades urbanas, perto de eixos de movimento, nas bordas de periferias, e em locais totalmente inusitados, o que nos leva a considerar que cidades noturnas emergem com características próprias.
A presente pesquisa torna-se oportuna não só pela importância e o crescimento da economia noturna na vida das cidades, como também para a dinamização do setor de entretenimento face às demandas do crescente fluxo de turistas nacionais e internacionais para o verão do Nordeste.
O objetivo principal do estudo é identificar a dinâmica da cidade noturna na cultura local, conhecer seus determinantes para informar o desenvolvimento de diretrizes de gestão e planejamento destas atividades, de modo a promover a vitalidade social, a qualidade de vida e principalmente a segurança dos habitantes da cidade tanto de dia como de noite.[:]

The socio-spatial dynamics of crime in urban public spaces (2010/2013) a research funded by FACEPE
The result of the recent research “Space against crime – mapping of urban crime and guidelines of spatial profiles for safer cities.” Primarily focused in the neighborhood of Boa Viagem, the results show the presence of different spatial patterns of crimes on different times of the day. Robberies and thefts have a dynamic behavior, since they seem to follow the people, changing places and nature depending on the time / day of the week.
The proposal to study the dynamics of the city at night comes after findings about the location of crime hotspots according to different times of day that helped to understand the changing nature of many urban segments. The evening activities arise in urban centrality, near axes of motion, the edges of the suburbs, and totally unusual places, which leads us to believe that nocturnal cities emerge with its own characteristics.
This research becomes timely not only because of the importance and growth of the economy in the night life of cities, but also to boost the entertainment industry in the face of the demands of the increasing flow of domestic and international tourists for the summer in the Northeast.
The main objective of the study is to identify the dynamics of the nocturnal city in the local culture, meet its determinants to inform the development of management guidelines and planning of these activities in order to promote social vitality, quality of life and especially the safety of residents the city both day and night.
